(from greville’s telegram company, reuter’s agents.) Hokitika, April 24. A fatal accident occurred at the Greenstone 3'esterday. A large boulder gave way, and killed George Taylor instantaneously. By the same fall Sandy Stewart had his leg broken, and it has been amputed since. Mr W. S. Reid, of the firm of Button and Reid, has been appointed first law officer of tbe Crown. He leaves for Wellington shortly. Tbe Hon. Mr Sewell and Mrs Sewell arrived per coach on Saturday. Christchurch, April 25. Bird, the English pedestrian, has backed himself to run 20 miles in two hours, for LIOO aside, on June 24.
