There is no change in prices to report in bieadstuffs. Wheat towards the latter part of thc week Las become slightly easier, and there is no alteration in the price
the upward tendency is chocked. It can now be plainly sccli that the market has gone as nigh as may be expected at this early part of th*i season. As the farmers ai e not inclined to quit their grain at the price now ruling the supply has been kept very bare. Millers however are not inclined to purchase quantities beyond what they actually require for present demands, shoual next news from Australia prove the market there to be still falling, we may expect our holders to rush their grain into the market, when wc fear purchasers will not be found unless at reduced rates. For oats there is a good inquiry for shipment at 2s 3d ; nnllois quote 2s sd, 2s Gd per prime samples. Barley continues neglected. Flour is in good demand, and approved brands command LLper ton ; some of the, millers are offering at LI I 10s ; the supply is short on accouxit of the backward delivery of wheat, than is plentiful and price is nominal. Wheat, 4s Gd ; oats, 2s 3d to 2s Gd ; barley, malting, 3s Gd ; feeding, 2s ; flour, LI I 10s to Ll2 ; pollard and bran. L 4 10s, including bags ; pearl barley, L2O; potatoes, L 3; hay, 1.-4; chaff, L 4; straw, L2 10s ; onions, LU ; fowl wheat is scarce, and is worth 2s 9d per hush cl. .A. Mercer reports for the week ending April loth, retail prices : —Fresh butter in lumps and punts, lid to Is ; salt butter in kegs, 9d per lb ; c loaial cheese, 6d to 8d ; colonial haras, Is per lb and scarco; rolled bacon, lOd per lb; English bams, best brands, Is 6d per lb ; eggs, 2s 6d per dozen and scarce. , Driver, Stewart, and Co. report for the weekending loth April: —Fat Stock.—The number of sheep yarded being 5,300, was considerably in excess of requirements of those we sold 1,500 at from 6s Gd to 7s od each, or birely equal to IJdpvr lb; 300 ■were sold at Gs Gd, and 500 turned out unsold. Only 15 head fat cattle were brought forward, which we sold at LG to L 7 2s 6d, a sum equal to 17s Gd per 100 lbs. Store Sheep continue in fair demand at our last quotations. Store Cattle.-->o transactions. Wool. —The late favorable news from the Home market has induced greater confidence in this staple, and full rates are obtainable for all avell got-up parcels offering.
