(from oreville’s telegrlm company, REUTER’S AGENTS.) Napier, April 13. Mr M‘Lean left for Poverty Bay last night, in the Napier. News has been received by Cobb’s coach to the effect that a travelling dealer, named A. Barnett, while suffering from delirium tremens, twice attempted to drown himself in the Akiteo river, but was rescued. His clothes were afterwards found on the bank, and it is supposed that he had made a third and successful attempt. April 14. A large building on the Goldsmith Hoad, the property of Major Green, adjoining his dwelling-house, was burned down this morning. The loss is partially covered by insurance. Tauhanoa, April 14. No information to hand of the meeting at Ohiuemuri. The Government has contracted with Mr M'Kenzie for the extension of the telegraph line to Katikati, a distance of twenty-five miles.
