Witness replied he only advanced money on security. Prisoner said Mr Watson, of the Royal Hotel, drpw bills on his father, which hid always been met. Witness said if he brought him a bill with Mr Watson’s name to it be would let him Lave as much money as he wanted. Ho went away, and returned an hour afterwards with a note from Mr Watson, which he (witu ss) said was not sufficient. Ho went away again and next tim? returned with a bill for 1/20, purportuip to be endorsed by Mr Watson, and he stated the endorsa'ion was Mr Watson’s. Witness asked hint to accompany him to Mr Watson’s, and they loft the shop together for that purpose, but lie missed the prisoner before he reached the hotel Wm. Watson, landlord of the Royal Hole!, said the prisoner a ked him yesterday to endorse a bill, which he deelin dto do. Tic endorsement on lire bill produced was not in witness’s handwriting, neither did he authorise the prisoner nor anyone else to cn 0.-se it in Iris name. When the prisoner was arrested by Detective Farrell, tli.ro Mas found on him a card, which Mas covered with imitrtioiis of Mr Watson’s signatures. Prisoner was fully committed for (rial. INSULTING LANGUAGE. Clrfts. M‘Ewerr, wlro had been arrested for disobeying a summons, pleaded n«t gni ! t.y to a charge of using insulting la-guage 10-varh Mrs Wills. in the course of the procc dines ho admitted applying approbions epithets to t c complainant, hr it as a set off endeavored to blacken her character, by imputing to her a variety of charges, M-hich it wa proved M ere totally nnforrnde 1. He was sentenced to three mouths hard labor.
