John Glinp ajid Matthew Morrison were each lined Ss ; Isabella Johnson, 20s, or three days ; James Newton and Gordon Scott, both on bail, 40s each. REMAND. The case of the Police v. Ellen Oately, a charge of using obscene language, was adjourned until to-morrow. BREACH OF THE LICENSING ORDINANCE. Willjam L, (Conzens, was charged with having on the ()th inst, permitted drunken men to remain in his licensed hous°, the Cafe de Paris, Jetty street. The evidence f f the police went to show that a row took place in defendant’s house on that evening, it being caused by the refusal of a man to pay for sonic liquor lie had had. This man and another were the worse for liquor, and although requested to do so by the police, defendant did not turn them out. Itwasnotuntil constable O’Donnell entered the house that be requested one of the men to lie removed. .Sergeant Baxter said the general character of the house was not good. The defendant denied that fault could lie found with the character of his house. He was lined 2Us and costs. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. Alex. Blair and Bohevt Blair were each lined 5s and costs, for diiving horses without sufficient reins; Wm. Menzies, for allowing cattle to wander, 2s 6d and costs ; and Flora Wilson, for a similar offence, 5s and gq sts.
