James C. Millar was fined os ; Andrew Sharp and John Snow were discharge I with a caution.
ILLEGALLY ON PREMISES.
David Curie, alias Carey, was charged with being i legally on the premises of Mr Charles Smith, Queen street. Mr Smith stated that he was awoke this morning, at two o’clock, by hearing a man, who proved to be the prisoner, hammering at his back door, which he threatened to burst in. He also asked for money, and threatened Mr Smith with personal injury. He subsequently found his way into the house, hut was forced to heat a retreat, when Mr Smith threatened him with a stockwhip. Prisoner, who described himself as a master mariner, said he was sorry for tho occurrence, which would not have happened had he been sob ;r; but Mr Smith and the arresting constable denied that he had the slightest appearance of being drunk—on tho contrary, his acts, in their opinion, favored the idea that he was sober. 'the case was remanded until to-morrow, to enable the police to make enquiries.
