Even hi ii Star Often. Wednesday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Dus-tjm-houso on goods cleared for consumption to-day, was £717 6s lid, LATEST ENGLISH COMMERCIAL. We take the following, dated London, December 30, from the Press: —The next series of wool sales commence on February 22. The arrival to date comprise Port Phillip, 6,262 bales ; Sydney, 6,077 bales ; Adelaide, 42 bales; New Zealand, 1,407 bales ; Van Uieman’s Land, 323 bales ; Cape of Good Hope, 13,057 bales; total, 50.734 bales ; the total to be offered will probably be 10,000 bales. The market* are firm, and a lively business has been done by private contract, pirtly for the continent, but principally for the home trade. (Special.) — London, January 22. The wool markets are Arm. Quotations — Bank of Otago T. 5 4s 6d discount ; Bank of New Zealand, seventeen to eighteen ; New South Wales, thirty-six to thirty-eight; Union, forty-one and n-half to forty-two and a-half; Otago and Southland investment, one farthing premium ; New Zealand Sixes, 109 to 111 ; New Zealand Fives, 109 to 110. Nine hundred bales Now Zealand flax were offered on December 14 *OO were sold at higher prices, say Ll4 to Lls 10s for low uncleaned ; L 33 to L 36 10s for fine cleaned. At the wheat sa’e at Rotterdam, the supply of New Zealand being abundant, only the best qualities mainta : ned the previous value. The bulk was sold at, Is decline ; oats are unchanged ; New Zealand brew (barley) brought 15s 6d to 21s.
