Port Chalmers, February 23. The ship Harvest Home, from Liver* pool, arrived at the heads this after* ooon. She signalled for tug; the Geelong is going out, and will pro* bably tow her in this evening. Invercargill, February 23. Scarlet fever has broken out here* It was imported by a passenger by the Robert Henderson, who arrived at the Bluff in January. The passenger then proceeded to Switzers, and the fever has broken out there. One fatal case has occurred at Invercargill. At a meeting of citizens to-day, a sanitary /6dtnmittee was formed, and I’esolutions passed condemning a want of vigilance on the part of the quarantine authorities. Mr Macandrew’s committee has been organised into an electoral association, to return supporters of the Superintendent to the Council.
Napikr, February 32. At the inquest ou the tire last night, an open verdict was returned.
A ride match was fired to-day— Napier versus Wanganui; twelve members on each side; ranges 400, 500, and 600 yards five shots at each range. Wanganui made 476 points, Napier 453. Mr Stubbs, of the Napier Rides, scored 48 points.
