.Palmerston, February 18. The following are the results of the polling for the above election
Messrs Bremner and Hertslet resigned in favor of Mr Mervyn, through the influence of Mr Haughton, TOTARA ELECTION 1 . Hokitika, February 18. The official declaration of the poll for a member to represent the district of Totara in the House of Representatives, took place to-day with the following results : Tribe ... ... ... 13-1 Keogh ... ... ... 131 Carreras ... ... ... 79 Hoos ... ... ... 15 Mr George Henry Tribe was therefore declared duly elected. He is a supporter of the Ministry. Thames via Tauranga, February 18. There is great excitement in shares to-day. The Caledonian Company have neaidy two tons of rich specimens ready for crushing : their shares are selling at L6O, and the Thames Mining Company at LI 2. Enquiry is brisk for Waicematas, Belfasts, Inverness, Tookeys, All Nations, Junctions, and Long Drives. The result of the East Coast election is as follows :—Kelly, 138 ; Mackay, 04 ; Skeet, 52. Te Kooti has fled into Waikato. I
