RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Tins Day, (Before.!. Fulton, Esq., R.M.) CII.VKCrB OF LIJBKL. Regha v. Buton—Mr Macasse}’ applied for a further remand in this case, ou the ground that an arrangement had been entered into between himself and the prosecutor for the Crown (Mr Haggitt) that it should not be proceeded with until the 23rd instant, and read a letter written in January to that effect, addressed to the Manager of the Daily Tium and Witoms Company. Mr Haggitt admitted the letter, but said that since that time he had received instructions from the Attorney-General,'directing him to press the charge, and stated that he had intimated the fact to Maeassey in ample time to enable him to subpamea witnesses and to proceed with the case then. After some further argument, Mr Haggitt expressed his willingness to allow a week’s further postponement, Mr Vaeassey pressing it on the ground of the original agreement. His Worship considcre I the terms of the letter conclusive as to the original understanding, and said that Mr strode had spoken to him incidentally to the same effect. A further remand of a week was granted.
