POST OFFICE NOTICES.
MAILS CLOSE— For Northern Provinces of New Zealand, per B.s. Taranaki, on Friday, the 10 th Feb., at 1.30 p.m. For registered letters, money orders, and newspapers, one hour previous to the mail. Per s.s. Tarama, on Monday, the 13th inst, as under For India, China, Japan, Penang, Singapore, Ceylon, Aden, Mauritius, the British, French, and Austrian Post-offices at Alexandria, Malta, Gibraltar, Marseilles, and the Travelling P.O. from Marseilles to Lyons, at 11.30 a.m. For Australian Colonies (except Melbourne), at 12.30 p.m. For London via Southampton, via Marseilles, and via Brindisi, Victoria, and Southland, at 1 p.m. For issue of money orders and posting of newspapers and registered letters, at 10 am. Late letters may be posted as under For Australian Colonies, except Melbourne, with a late fee of 3d per letter, till 1 p.m. For London via Brindisi, with a late Jfee of 9d per letter till 1.30 p.m. For London via Marseilles, with a late fee of 9d per letter till 1.30 p.m. For Melbourne, with a late fee of 3d per letter till 1.30 p.m. An alteration has been effected in the rates of postage via Brindisi as tinder : LETTERS Not exceeding ioz, 9d Exceeding \oz t and not exceeding loz, Is 6d And so on, 9d for every additional ioz or fraction of ioz. Newspapers under 4oz each, 4d For every additional 40z., 4d BOOK AND PATTERN PARCELS. Not exceeding 1 oz, 2d Exceeding 1 oz, and not exceeding 2 oz, 4d Exceeding 2 oz, and not exceeding 4 oz, 7d Exceeding 4 oz, and not exceeding 8 oz, Is 2d And so on, Is 2d for every additional Boz, or fraction of Boz.
