W S.W., accompanied with lie,ivy sea; at midnight the gale increased to a hurricane with heavy showers '*f rain, the ship lalxy ing heavily, and shipping largo quantities of water; at 4 a.m. the wind and sea increased, and the cargo below the hatches shifted to the port side ; the sea breaking over the vessel, was obliged to throw over part of her deck cargo, consisting of bar iron, drums of oil, &c.; arrived at Akaroa at 8 a.m. on Thursday; let go both anchors, and rode out the gale, which was still raging. Capt, Malcolm and his officers state they never saw the sea rise so quickly as it did on the night of Wednesday last.
