MAYOR'S COURT.

This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Michael Wallace was lined 10s. James Grant, for being drunk, was fined os, and for assaulting Constable Cottar, 20s, or 48 hours’ imprisonment. Henry Kelly was also fined os, OFFENCE AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. William Cowper, for driving a horse without sufficient reins, was fined 5s and costs ; Michal M'Grath, placing building material on the footpath in Rattray street; and Jas. Rodgers, for having no name on his dray, were eacli mulcted in costs, Jas. Rodgers, for driving a dray with an improper frame attached thereto, was fined 2s 6d and costs. John Beeton, for driving a load of straw through the city, without its having been first weighed, was mulcted in costs, and for driving a dray with an improper frame attached thereto, 2s Gd and costs. THREATENING LANGUAGE. Henry McDonald v. Jno. Barnes, was a charge of using insulting language. Mr Turton, who appeared for the complainant, stated this case was of a peculiar nature. The complainant owns a piece of ground abutting Albany street, and adjoining the railway line. The defendant is a railway sub-coutractor, and in that capacity unlaw-

fully removed a portion of complainant’s fence. Nothing turned upon this, except that, on the 24th ult., Mr Barnes went down to see how hia contract was getting on, when he was met by the complainant, who a ked bv what authority ho had removed the fence. Mr Barnes thereupon became outrageous, and used strong language ; amongst other things he said ho was a City Councillor, and could do anything he liked, and threatened to put the complainant’s head in a creek. Dismissed with costs.
