Tolmie is going energetically to work in his canvass, lie purposes speaking at Mosgiel to-night, Otakia to-morrow evening, Lower Waipori on Thursday at noon, and at North Taieri that that night. Princess Theatre. The theatre was fairly attended last evening, and the performances went oil’ wed. I o-niorrow evening “ Frou Frou” is to be played. We have before noticed this piece as one of the most interesting of modern dramas, and have no doubt it will secure a g.iod house. Sudden Death.—A man named I’chert Turner, a genera! dealer, was found seated in his cart on the Blncskin road yesterday afternoon, in an expiring state. Ho was inme.liatcly brought into town, hut died before be reached the Hospital. .His two little children were with him in the cart at the time. For some time past he had been suffering from pains in his chest, and tliat morning he complained greatly of them, but nevertheless ho started for Blncskin for a load of firewood. The Lodge of Dunedin. No. 931, E.C., will meet this evening, in the Masonic Hall, Moray place. The seventli anniversary of the Court Enterprise, A.O. F., wiill he celebrated by a supper, to he held in the Court Boom, Royal George Hotel, on Wednesday, the Ist Feb uary, at S p.m. The No. 1 Company (C.G.) D.R.Y. will muster for inspection by Lieut.-Colonel Harrington at the Octagon, to-morrow (Wednesday) evening, at G o’clock.- The battery of the I ’uiicdiu Volunteer Artillery will also muster for inspection at the gun shed to morrow {Wednesday) at G p m.
