Advertisements received too late for Classification. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE WAITAKI DISTRICT. , ACOMMITTEE has been formed for the purpose of securing the return of . JAMES MACASSEY, ESQ., to represent the District In the General Assembly. The Committee feel that in the present important crisis of affairs it is absolutely necessary for the welfare of the District that the Electors should for a time lay aside all merely local or class differenees, and elect a gentleman who, like Mr Macassey, is of known and acknowledged ability, whose presence in the Assembly will be a credit to those whom he represents, and whose enlarged, liberal, and statesmanlike views, and well-known independence of character, are a guarantee that he will do h's duty to the Colony and District unbiassed by mere party feeling and petty local prejudice s. The Committee therefore confidently call upon the Electors, instead of injuring the interests of the whole District by bringingforward a number of purely local candidates, pie iged to favor one portion of the district at the expense of the others, to sink all minor differences and unite as one man in supporting JAMES MACASSEY, ESQ. The Committee hope to receive Mr Macassey’fc Address short'y, and that he may be able to address the Electors in the different towns before the day of the poll. In the meantime a perusal of the speeches lately delivered by Mr Macassey in Dunedin cannot fail to satisfy tbc Electors that they will fail anywhere to find a more “ fit and proper ” representative. For the Committee, E. A. JCLIVIi TO JAMES MACASSEY, ESQ.
