GIENTLEMEN, —As it is not my iutenlf tion to address you upon the occasion of the official declaration of the poll being made, I wish to take this opportunity t>'f recording my grateful sense of the kind rnanuer in which so many of you voted for me, and to express my gratitude for the able services rendered to me by my Committee during the recent contest for the representation of this City, ’ Having been given to understand that you purpose asking me to contest a seat for the city in the Provincial Council, 1 trust you will forgive me for saying that I regard the late decision of the electors as conclusive, so far as lam concerned. It is not my intention to again contest the representation of Dunedin.
