Bluff, January 9.

The Alhambra arrived at 4 p.m. to-day. She experienced light winds the first day, then strong east gales, arrived off Milford Sound at 10 p.m. on the 7th instant; and left at 12..10 p.m. on the Bth. She leaves for Dunedin at 4 p.m. to-morrow. Passengers.—For Dunedin—Messrs G. C. Large parcels are not obtainable under LlO 10s; baker’s lots, Ll2 15s to Ll3. Wheat is steady at 5s 6d to 5s Bd. A parcel of New Zealand feed oats sold at 3s sd, and are in more demand. Superior milling sorts are worth 3s 7d. Maize has improved, twenty-five hundred bags sold at 4s 3d. Sugars are firm, nine thousand bags of Mauritius, and five thousand bags Bourbon and Java sugars were sold at auction, the prices fully sustaining th 6 market to advance on fine whites. Equal to six hundred chests of teas ex Galilee, were sold on private terms. An immense number of candidates are likely to come forward at the next general elections. The holidays have been very generally kept. The weather was hot until early this morning, when it broke, and there was a heavy storm, with wind and rain. It is still squally. The steamer Hunter reports sighting a topsail-yard floating off Port Hackling, apparently belonging to a vessel of GOO or 700 tons. The Ellon Stuart loads 800 tons of New South Wales wheat for England. The s diooner Missie was wrecked at the North Head. The Forward has arrived from a M'haling voyage with 200 barrels of oil. Sailed Kate, for Auckland. Arrived at Newcastle—Velocidade, Southern Cross, and Electra, from Lyttelton. Adelaide. Another vessel has been laid on to load wheat for England.
