MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. 1 (Before his Worship the Mayor and E. B. Cargill, Esq., J.T.) DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Bates, Martha Miller, Alice Ruth, and Kate M‘Donald were discharged with a caution. Jonathan M'Bcth and John M'Phee were each lined 10s. REMANDED CASE. James M‘ Mur trie was again brought up, J charged with setting lire to a house belonging to Janet M ‘Mnrtric.- Mr Harris stated that ihe trustees declined to prosecute, there being sonic doubt as to the ownership of the property destroyed, axid there was a further doubt whether the accused wilfully set lire to the place, seeing that he was a great loser by its destruction.—On the application of the Commissioner of Police, the charge was withdrawn. NEGLECTED CHILD. Ellen Smith was sent to the Industrial .fichool for five years, to be brought up iu the Roman Catholic religion.
