Far late letters with late foes as under at 1,30 a.m. : For Northern Ports of Now Zealand, 2d per letter. For the United Kingdom, 6d per letter. 1 or all other places one additional single rate per letter For issue of money orders and posting of registered letters at 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Slit instant. N.B.—Postage stamps will bo sold at this office on Sunday next, only between the hours of 13.30 and 1.30 p.m. For Ounam, per p.s. Wallace, on Tuesday, 3rd Jan., at 9.30 a.m. NOTICE. (Extract from Government Oaxtlte, No. 73, Dee. 22, 1870.) “In consequence of the increasing difficulties which attend the transmission through Prance of overland mails addressed via Marseilles, the Postmaster-General of London has determined on sending mails so addressed, until further notice, via Brindisi, Brenner, Prussia, and Belgium. “The rates of postage to be charged in New Zealand on correspondence for the United Kingdom via Marseilles or Brindisi, will therefore be as follows : LETTERS Not exceeding ioz, Is 3d Exceeding ioz, and not exceeding loz, 2s 6d Exceeding loz, and not exceeding lioz, 3s 9d And so on, Is 3d for every additional ioz or fraction of ioz. * Newspapers under 4oz each, 4d BOOK AND PATTERN PARCELS, Not exceeding 1 oz, 2d Exceeding 1 oz, and not exceeding 2 oz,4d Exceeding 2 oz, and not exceeding 4 oz, 7d Exceeding 4 oz, and not exceeding 8 oz, la 2d - And bo on, at tho rate of la 2d per J-lb, N.B.—Any letters posted after this date with tho former rate of postage via Marseilles—viz, lOd per i-oz—can only be forwarded via Southampton.
