MAYOR’S COURT.

Yesterday. (Before his Worship the Mayor, and W. H. Reynolds, Esq., J. P.) drunkenness. George Harle was fined 40s, and Colin M‘ Donald 40s, with the alternative of fourteen days’ imprisonment. The last-named prisoner was sent to gaol for three months for being a habitual drunkard. A DISTHESSINU CASE. George Murray, a lad about 14 years old, was charged with being a neglected child. Detective Farrell said the child was the son of a man named Murray, a harbor, who was greatly given to intemperate habits, and nc'dcctful of his children. The boy, who was a good and intelligent had, had been working in a brothel in Stuart street, where he had been taught to read and write by the inmates. The Commissioner of Police said before lie received the warrant for execution, the defendant came and informed him of the fact of its being out, and of the circumstances of tire ease. He understood tho defendant was willing to make provision for his children. The case was remanded for a week, being ad mitted to hail in his own surety of L‘2o. A number of cases involving bre'cms of the bye-laws were summarily dealt with.
