(from greville’s TELEGRAM COMP A NT, REUTER’S AGENTS.) Tauranga, December 22. The Lord Ashley arrived at 7 a.m. on the 21st, and left for Auckland at 3 p.m., with two passengers (telcgrajihists). A rupture is expected between Te Hira and To Moananni, in consequence of a decision by the Native Lands Court in reference to the Ohiuerauri lands, which is disputed by Mr James Mackay, jun., who is endeavoring to soothe matters.

Reports from Waihi state that a messenger ftom the Maori King arrived at Pirikakwhia, Tauranga, soliciting assistance to take possession of the Waikato confiscated lands. Tlxe Natives at Tauranga refused. The Native Lands Court is progressing satisfactorily. William Barton, Te Wheoroa, and other chiefs, sent to demand the intentions of the King Natives, have returned, Manuwhiri, the Maori King’s Minister, refuses to surrender the murderers, and denies there was any murder committed on the European side of the boundary. He also claims the confiscated lands. Arrived—Luna and Virago, from East Coast, Port Chalmers, December 22. Chang and wife are passengers by the Airedale. Shortly after their arrival they landed, and walked leisurely up the street to the Provincial Hotel, giving a good opportunity to the people to see them. They then proceeded to Dunedin. The examination in connection with the Port Chalmers Grammar School commenced to-day, with satisfactory results.
