Mr Nicliol, proprietor of the Exchange Hotel, has received a requisition signed by 40 persons, to oppose Mr Yogcl in his candidature for Auckland City, east. The Honolulu Gazette says, that a monthly steam service, for the conveyance of sugar from Honolulu to Auckland and Sydney, is to bo started early. Hokitika, December 21. Two men, named Wm. King and Christen Jorgensen, avcvo killed yesterday at Woodstock (Eight mile). They Avere Avorking a hydraulic claim, avlicu a land slip took place. Another man, named Charles Quinn, Avas seriously Avoundcd. At the inquest, to-day, a verdict of accidently killed Avas returned.
