(from grevit.le’s telegram company, reutLr’s agents,) Wellington, December 8. Epuni, an old Native chief, who died at the Hutt, is to be buried by the Government to-morrow. The banks and public offices in Wellington will be closed. The Volunteers will proceed to the burying place per Rangatira. Several old Wellington settlers will act as pall bearers. This chief, for thirty years, was a staunch friend of the settlers, and was much respected. The Evening Post repeated yesterday the charge of the stolen telegrams. The Independent, to-day, calls on the Press Association to go on with the case or make an abject apology. Invercargill, December 8. ' i The Agricultural Show was very successful. The number and quality of exhibits come fully up to the average, aud the attendance was good. Messrs Low and M'Gregor have received a large requisition to contest Riverton at the approaching election for the General Assembly. The signatures are equal in number to those attached to - Mr M'Gillivray’s requisition. The woman Richardson has just been found, A large search party went down to Seaward Bush by special train at daylight. No particulars of her adventure have been received.
