This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor. DRUNKENNESS. Peter Mathcson was fined 10« or three clays' imprisonment { and a charge of habitual drunkenness preferred against him was dismissed, on condition of his leaving the city. John Johnston and George Howe were lined 5s each, and Geo. Matheson I Os. ILLEGALLY ON Till' PREMISES. Robert Williams was charged with this offence. Absence of felonious intent was admitted, the proceedings being taken for the purpose of preventing the accused from frequenting the prosecutor’s hayloft, to the danger of its destruction of fire. The case was dismissed with a caution, OBSCENE LANGUAGE. James Evereste, againt whom a warrant was issued “for not appearing upon a summons to answer a charge of this nature, was brought up in custody. The charge was fully proved, and he was lined Lf> or three months imprisonment. George Howe, for using insulting language towards one Lyons, was lined L 5 or fourteen days’ imprisonment. Mary Ann Sutton, for a similar offence, was lined LlO or three months imprisonment. NEGLECTED CHILD. A little' boy named William Pringle was, on the application of the police, sent to the Industrial School for twelve mouths. It
appeared thathehad been left in the custodyof a Mr Little, of Marewhenua, who is about to leave the Colony, and his father resides on the West Coast, and is in a position to pay for his maintenance. He will be kept at the Reformatory until such time as the police are able to communicate with his father.
