Christchurch, November 25

There was a very angry debate in the Council last night over Mr Walker’s resolution against the Superintendent’s conduct in supplying information to Mr Cowlishaw. • The motion was carried by 19 against 10, The Moorhouse honorarium resolution was carried by 15 against 6. The Council unanimously passed a resolution, that it would be inexpedient on the part of Canterbury to entertain any such proposal as that lor the union of Canterbury with Otago.
