A NEW WAY OF SELLING MUTTON.
To the Editor of the Evening Star.
Sin—l read in your Star of last evening the case <;f “ Gall against Knlgour,” in which the defendant is fined Lls an 1 all expenses, for his dogs being supposed to have worried one sheep ; and as far as I can judge from the evidence, it is very doubtful that it was the defendant’s dogs. I as a shepherd, as in this case, can come upon your premises and say I saw a black dog among my sheep some hours ago. a al this one is like it, and as he is not on the chain it must be ho. Verily, "Gall the butcher” set forth his tender mercies in asking only LlO for one sheep damaged, but still tit for human food. But I consider the fine inflicted a very serious one, and would advise any person having dogs ‘‘to beware,” as our worthy Magistrate appears to bo a strong protector of the ‘■sheep” interest, 'm his making his calculation on this “flippit” down flock of sheep the loss would be about Ij3o, but ho would make the flue only Lid and all expenses for one sheep biiten, and I suppose uow eaten. I am, &c., A Lover of Justice. November 23.
