To the Editor of the Eveninn Star

Mervyn in your issue of Saturday last, imputing motives to me relative to certain political matters as to the accuracy of reports implying that I was interested in a claim which came b'fore the Assembly for enquiry, to all of which I give a most positive denial. There is not the slightest foundation for such statements, any one of which 1 now challenge him to substantiate. I am sorry to trouble you, but consider that as Mr Mervyn is comparatively unkown in Dunedin, it is scarcely in justification of myself that I now reply to such a blatant —■ — I am, &c., J, C, Bbown. Dunedin, November 21.
