Harris, late Sub-treasure*’, ’goaded guilty to-day to two charges of forgery. Mr Pitt addressed the Court in mitigation of sentence. He was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment.
Curisygicurch, November 22
The house of Mr G. Scott, of Lake Heron Station, was burnt down on the 19th instant. It -was uninsured, Mr Scott estimates his loss at L4OO. Mr Hart intends to institute legal proceedings against the validity of the Oxford election, on the ground that six of his supporters were prevented from voting, their names being struck off the roll notwithstanding they still possessed the qualification. A shepherd named James M'Kay was dragged by his horse at Mount Somers Station on the 20th and killed.
