MR. DRIVER’S MEETING.

To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —As one of many who were present on Monday night at Mr Driver’s meeting, [ was particularly pleased with tho plain, lucid, and intelligent manner in which he entered upon the vexed question of the Hundreds Bill. I looked around to see if I could discover any of the gentlemen who have lately been perambulating Dunedin spouting about this measure, but failed to observe them. It would have done them much good in the way of enlightenment had they been * present—that is, if they are open to conviction. I should think Mr Reynolds must have been satisfied with tho answers to his queries, especially as to the credibility of his' word as against Mr Vogel’s. It would have beep politic, I think, had Mr Reynolds stayed at home—as it is, he had the worst of the bargain. Regarding a Mr Stout, who had the effrontery to endeavor to catechise the speaker, he distinctly stated he had no vote, yet he persistently occupied the time of the meeting until he was coughed down Indeed, had this creature only the power as he has the impertinence, few could withstand his audacity. I would recommend all public men to avoid answering this person any questions at future meetings. I am, &c , Voi.UN'TKKR. Dunedin, November 17.
