A thousand Natives are employed to construct new works. The French admiral’s ship Astre sailed in search of a Prussian frigate reported to be in the neighborhood. The Piako Natives threaten bloodshed in the event of a Land Court sitting there. A child of Mrs Costello has been scalded to death, ' The Thames A doertisev reports that Te Kooti fought the friendlies at Ngatikatungaru and killed numbers firing several volleys. Te Kooti, it is said, has gone to Tubua. He has made peace with the king and arranged for their future policy. 4 At Qrahamstown, the daughter of Mr Collet was killed by cart. A verdict of manslaughter was returned against Thomas Crowe, the driver.
