BELL WARD.
To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sm,—ln looking over the proceedings of the City Council yesterday, bow refreshing it is to find Mr Councillor Barnes thinking it only fair that the sum of Ll2B 4s 8d should be paid to Mr Bagley’s solicitor out of the funds to be allocated to Bell Ward, and how graciously indeed, magnanimously the Mayor agreed with Mr Barnes. What nice cordiality, an 1 how generous ! Poor Bell Ward ! where was your representative that he did not say one word in your behalf ? I do trust, sir, the ratepayers will resist this iniquitous aggression on their funds. Let the saddle be put on the right horse, and his Worship the Mayor learn in future to act with some more caution, and not by caprice launch the City into a most unreasonable and unwarrantable expenditure. I am, &c., Ratepayer. Dunedin, October 6.
