On Dit, —We hear that a number of ladies in Dunedin have undertaken the financial arrangements for the defence in one of the cases of alleged slander likely to come before the Supreme Court this session. Licensing Laws.—Jn the Assembly, Mr Haughton has given notice of a very important motion, viz :—“That it is desirable that there should be one licensing law for the whole Colony, and that the Government be requested to cause a Bill to be prepared during the recess to give effect to this resolution.” The Tauranga Relief Fund.— The-exertions of Captain White 'and' Purser Moss of the Taranaki have resulted in their collecting at the different porks in the Colony the handsome sum of L 270 15s 6d,
