(from our own correspondents.) Invercargill, September 1. There was a heavy thunderstorm last night, lasting fully one hour. The lightning struck the schooner Daphne, lying at Bluff harbor, entering the hold and setting fire to a bale of flax. The fire was quickly extinguished, no damage being done to the vessel. Hokitika, September 1. There was a smart shock of earthquake last night at 6.21 to 6.25. The duration was about five seconds. The direction nearly from due south to north.
