THE CLYDE ROBBERY.
To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sm, —As a correspondent has thought fit to call in question your common sense, business like article in Tuesday night’s issue, respecting the Clyde robbery, land -many others differ from him, and saj instead of re-instating an officer who has shewn such want of ordinary care in the discharge of his duty, that it is a goo I opportunity to test the sincerity of the Government in their desire for retrenchment, and to do away altogether with the ornamental billets, and give the charge of the escort to some of the first class sergeants, and as a reward for long and faithful service, give them Is a day extra, instead of reducing them Is, making them diaatisfied. —I remain yours, J t'STICK.
