MAILS CLOSE— For Melbourne, Australian Colonies, and Southland per s.s. Tararua, on Saturday, the 20th inst., at 1.30 p.m. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per s.s. Lord Ashley, on Monday, the 22ud inst., at 1.30 p.m. ALTERATION OF POSTAGE RATES IN NEW ZEALAND. From this date the postage on letters at any Post Office in New Zealand for delivery at any other Post Office in the Colony (irrespective of Provincial boundaries), will be as follows; Not exceeding Aoz, 2d Not exceeding loz, 4d Not exceeding lAoz. (id Not exceeding 2oz, Bd, And so on, increasing 2d for every ''additional half-ounce. N.B.—The postage on letters for town delivery (t.c., from the office at which posted), continues as before, viz., Id per half-ounce. ARCH. BARR, Chief Postmaster, Chief Post Office.
