BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Oamaru, August 12. A mall named William Elves, a notoriously bad character, was to-day brought before MrT. W. Parker, 11.M., charged by the manager of the Bank of New Zealand with having had in his possession a L 5 note, part of the money stolen from the lock-up at Clyde. The prisoner is an old digger, and is known to the police. He was remanded until Thursday. There was considerable excitement here about the arrest. [The above telegram was received too late for publication last evening.— Ed. E. /S'.]
