PLANATION, To the Editor of the Evening Stw. Sir, —Although I do not hulk Targe in the Dunedin constituency, I will .be obliged if you insert this note. J I most enaphatieally deny having abandoned the Separation cause, but [consider the conduct of Mr Reynolds as very indiscreet in pressing his resolutions in face of the Government scheme. lam not alone in this opinion, but am supported by the majority of the Otago members. Sir,— Some evil disposed peraon or persons have circulated a report that 1 have thrown off my allegiance to the Fox party, and that I am entirely led by the dictum of Mr Reynolds. The latter report is freely circulated hero, having been copied from the Dunedin Echo. Now, sir, I have to inform my friends and the proprietors of the Echo, that I have not changed my opinions respecting the policy of the Government; that lam an out-and-out supporter of their financial scheme, and as for being "a tool in the hands of either Messrs Vogel or Reynolds, I leave my friends who know me to draw, their own conclusions.
