[from our owy correspondent.] Wellington, August 4. In the House of Representatives last night, Mr Macandrew moved the second reading of the Otago Roads Boards Validation Bill, which was carried. The third reading is fixed for to-night. The House resolved itself into Committee on the San Francisco Mail Service, on the motion of Mr Macandrew making Otago the last port of call and the first of departure—the subsidy not to exceed LI 0,000 yearly. The House generally is favorable, and the discussion was adjourned for a week. Mr Brown moved the second reading of the Otago Hundreds Repeal Bill. Mr MTndoe moved—“ That the Bill be read that day six months.” It was seconded by Mr Reynolds, and carried by 29 for, 15 against. The Bill was thrown out—the House indifferent, and Mr Brown disconsolate.

In the adjourned debate on the Immigration and Public Works Bills, Messrs Stafford, Richmond, and Fitzherbert were favorable to them. Mr Cracroft Wilson, C.8., moved as an amendment —“ That the Bills be read that - day six months.” The amendment was negatived—Ayes, 45 ; noes, 7 ; majority for Ministers, 38. The House adjourned at 12.35.
