MR. REEVES’ MEETING.

To the Editor of the. Evening Star. Sir,—l shall feel extremely obliged if you can afford space in your columns for the following letter to the Daily Timex, which explains itself, and which that journal refuses to insert. I wish to remark that the report of my meeting last night, which appears in to-day’s Time. s’, is both garbled and untruthful. Apologising for thus trespassing. I am, &c., C. S. Reeves. July 20th, 1870. To the Editor of the Daily Times. Sir, — I have hitherto been treated with so much courtesy by the press of this City that it grieves me to have occasion to complain of your reporter’s shortcoming this evening. I had advertised a meeting of the rater payers of High Ward for half-past seven ip the Mission House, Russeß street, and Mr Mercer had also (by permission from me) called a meeting at the same place for halfpast eight. I waited till eight expecting a representative of the press, but was disappointed that no one appeared. After my meeting was over, I was much surprised to see your reporter accompany .Mr Mercer and take'his scat at the table, and I was still more astonished when L was informed that he entered the room shortly after 1 commenced speaking. Sir, I know not whether this was iu accordance with imtru' toms, hut I am content to leave it to the electors whether in this instance your reporter acted impartially. I am urged to notice this, as my supporters at the meeting consider it a slight to them as well as to myself. I am, C. 8. Reeves.
