MAYOR'S COURT.
This Day, (Before I. N. Watt, Fsq., R.M., and J. T. Thomson, Esq., J. P,) DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Ramagc, who had been locked up since yesterday, was fined os ; and Cohn M‘Donald and Bridget Keane, 40s each, or three days’ imprisonment. snorunrsn. Anne Hardy, an old offender, was charged with stealing a boy’s Inverness cape aud an imitation sealskin jacket, valued at two guineas. It appeared from the evidence that this morning the prisoner was met in Stafford street by Detective barrel], who observing that she had some bulky article concealed about her person, stopped and searched her. He found under her shawl tho jacket, which bore »]prirate mark, and she was wearing the cape, from which the private mark had been tom, hut which still bore a trade mark. The jacket was ident lied by Mr Strang, of Thomson, Strang, and Co., as having been st den from their premisf-s. The defence was, that tho accused had obtaine I the articles from a woman named Collins, who resided “ somewhere about the Water of Leitli ” ; but she did not think it necessary to ask that such a person might be sunnnonod, although the opportunity was given her. •Sove ! *al previous convictions were proved. She was sent to gaol for six months. REMAND. John Murphy was again brought up, charged with obtaining money under false pretences. On tho application of the Commissioner of Police, who stated that it had been ascertained that the promissory note given to tho prosecutor had been stolen, the prisoner was remanded for eight days. MINOR OFFENCE. William Watson was fined 20s and costs for selling liquors without a II ense at >t. George’s Hall, on tho occasion of StPatrick’s Society’s Rail.
