RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
This Day. (Before J. Fulton, Esq., R.M.) CHARGE OF ASSAULT. Robert Tomlinson was charged on the information of James Mackenzie with assaulting and heating him at East Taieri, The prisoner was remanded to to-morrow. HA VINO MEAT UNLAWFULLY IK POSSESSION. George Webb, David Clark, John Welch, and Edward Hamilton wore charged on the information of Constable Cutliftc with having a quantity of beef iit their possession without being able satisfactorily to account for the same. The case was not proved, and the charge was withdrawn. NEGLECTED CHILDREN. Benj. Britton v. Henry Rees, father of two children in the Industrial School. This was a charge by the master of tbc school against ihe father for neglecting to contribute to the support of the children, ho being in a position to do so. It appeared from the evidence that it was arranged that be should pay 7s 6d a week each ; but that no payment had been made since the admission of the children into the school. An order was directed to be made for payment of 7s 6i a week each.
