BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

ARRIVED. F Lyttelton: June 23rd, 8.30 a.m, Taranaki from North. , Bluff : June 22nd, Huon Belle. DEPARTURE. Bluff ; June 23rd, Nightingale, for Dunedin ; ,Marfa Douglas for Melbourne. A new schooner, the Mary Douglas, built at Invercargill, has sailed from that port for Melbourne, with a cargo of grain, A heavy easterly sea setting into the bay yesterday, the schooner Cora (the only vessel then in the roads) was ordered by the Beachmaater to make ready for sea. Shortly afterwards -—at 'abont I l ovelock—a boat was sent off by the agent to endeavor to tow her out. This attempt failed, and signal was then made to the vessel to pay out cable, and ride with springs.. Subsequently, about noon, a number '6f the Landing Service Company’s men manned a boat,, and at considerable risK, launched her through the surf, taking withfthem a kedge anchor, and endeavored to get the: schooner to sea by this means. After td-o 'or three hours’ hard work, the Cora, gained a considerable offing, and was thought to be out of danger. Had it not been for this, we are strongly of opinion that she must have come ashore, as there was a very heavy swell on and not enough wind to lift a feather. The Landing Service Company's men—who had anything but an enviable billet, their boat running a great risk of being swamped—deserve some recognition oh the part of the underwriters of the Cora for their plucky and arduous efforts. — Oajk&U Times, 21st inst. The Oneijunga. —This smart little vessel, which cleared out from the roads on the 14th inst, for Lyttelton, arrived at the latter port within IGi hours of weighing anchor—thus making the trip of 180 miles at an avepsgq of llj knots an hour.— lbid.
