Lyttelton :* June 16th, late, Claud Hamilton for North, DEPARTURE, fPLyttelton ; June 10th, 4.13 p.m, Baugatira from South 17th, Ramsay from London. The Wainui arrived from Dunedin on Thursday last. On Wednesday, when she made the roadstead of Oamaru. she found a tremendous sea rolling into the bay, and was taken os the top of a heavy roller many pards in towards shore. Her bow was quickly turned seaward, and on tbe run to Timaru she experienced a heavy sea. At fifteen miles from the coast Captain Leys found a heavy gale blowing, hut on approaching Timaru there was no wind, hut a very heavy sea running. On Friday, whilst lying at anchor in the roadstead, Captain Leys reports having experienced the heaviest sea he has seen during his ten years’ service on the coast of New Zealand.— Timaru Herald , 15th inst.
