BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

[from oub own correspondent.] Wellington, June 11. The Government have received despatches from Waikareraoana. Our native allies have gone round to the Lake, and taken a pa at Matuahu. Several skirmishes took place, but our people drove the enemy before them on every occasion. Mr Hamlin reports that large supplies of food were taken at the Lake, and estimates the potatoes already taken at 200 tons. Intensive cultivations exist in every direction, and everything denotes the intention of the enemy to make Waikaremoana their headquarters. The weather is very bad. On the Bth our force were unable to cross the Lake to where the enemy was seen almost within ride shot. The forces would cross as soon as possible ; they say they are determined to follow the enemy up. Mr Hamlin estimates the enemy’s force at 100 men. The eqemy had one killed in the late skirmishes, Me Qrmqncl expects that they will surrender, or possibly bolt to linatuhuna.
