Tho steamer Lady Bird has been moored off the breastwork at Wellington, and we Understand that it is intended to dismantle her, remove, her cabin fittings, deck-houses, and machinery, for the purpose of converting her into a collier, to run between that port and Newcastle, N.S.W. After dismantling her, she will be placed on the slip in Evans s Bay, for the purpose of giving her a thorough overhaul. It is intended to strengthen her ■with fresh angle irons, to renew any plates that may be found to be defective, and to rig her as a three-masted schooner.
