MAYOR’S COURT.
Tins Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor and W. H. Valpy, Esq., .1.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. The following persons convicted of drunkenness and other offences were fined the sums stated with their names :—John M‘Gavin, 20s or 24 hours’ imprisonment, and for assaulting David Cam, L 5 or 14 days ; John Cooper, 10s or 24 hours ; Francis Grant, 10s or 24 hours’ ; Hannah Neilson, 20s or 24 hours, and for soliciting persons for purposes of prostitution 40s or one month; Frederick One, bail forfeited ; John Fitzpatrick, 10s or 24 hours ; John Swan, bail forfeited ; Thomas Aitken, 40s, and on a further charge of furious driving, L 5. CHARGE OF GAMBLING IN A LICENSED HOUSE. Caleb Moore, licensed victualler, was charged with allowing card playing in his licensed house! The case was dismissed. A charge against A. J. Bamford of allowing billiard playing in his licensed room later than the hours prescribed by law was also dismissed.
