MILITARY ETIQUETTE.
To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —Will you or some of your numerous readers favor me with answers to the following questions, i.e. : Is it considered military etiquette for the Major, commanding a battalion on parade, to smoke a cigar? Also, whether the men
were justified in following the example of the gallant Major, by lighting their pipes and smoking, as was done at the last battalion drill.—Yours &c., QApril 25th, 1870.
