WASTE LAND BOARD.
This Din. A meeting of the Waste Land Board was held at the Land Office at noon to-day. Present —Messrs Thomson (in the chair), J. Hughes, and C. Duncan. Mr Main, for Mr John Farquharson, applied to purchase 50 acres on a run on the Deep Stream. Ho stated that the application was made with the consent of the runholder. The application was granted, the applicant to pay for survey, and the permanent roads to be properly marked off. Mr Main applied on behalf of Mr Robert Paterson, to purchase 50 acres on run 213, Straith Taieri. He stated the consent of the runholder had been obtained. The application was sanctioned, the applicant to pay the expense of survey. Mr Warden Pykc’s application to purchase a section in Clyde Town, was referred to the Secretary of Land and Works. W. G. Goodger’s application to purchase a block over 19 acres in Cromwell Town, was declined. A communication from Mr Nicholson, as to valuation for improvements made by Mr G. Morrison on certain land held by him at Lawrence, was considered. It was resolved that valuation be placed only on such sections on which improvements have been made. Mr James Lamond applied to purchase an island in the Clutha River below Dalhousie Town. The land was ordered to be offered for sale as “special land,” at the upset price of L2 per acre. • Messrs Connell and Moodie jon behalf of Mr G. T. Taylor, applied to lease 80 acres of land adjoining Arthur Smith’s application, block 5, Marewhenua, for flax purposes. Granted, on condition that the survey be completed within one month. The annual rental to be LlO. Messrs Connell and Hoodie’s application for Messrs Swanson and Warburton to lease section 0, block 2, Awamoko, was declined. A letter was read from Mr James Richie, with reference to a letter received from Mr T. Douglass, threatening to prosecute owners of cattle trespassing on his unfeuced land in the Hawksbury Hundreds. The matter was referred to the Government. A letter from Mr Walter Miller, with reference to the breaking out of scab in the Stuart Hundreds, was sent to the Chief Inspector of Sheep to report upon. Mr Smith applied, on behalf of the Presbyterian Church, for 50 acres of land on Run 369. Agreed to, on condition that applicants obtain runholder’s consent and pay expenses of survey. Mr Main, for Mr G. Fisherapplied to purchase 50 acres on Run 204, with the consent of the runholder. Sanctioned, the applicant paying expenses of survey. It was resolved that section G, block 2, Awamoko district, be laid out as a township in quarter-acre sections.
