ARRIVED. Lyttelton : April 16th, 6 a.m, Tararua from Wellington.
The Airedale proceeded to Port by this afternoon’s flood tide. The Tararua, from Melbourne via Northern Ports, is due at Port Chalmers tomorrow forenoon. A new harbor light has been received at Westport, for use on the south spit, as a guide to vessels entering the Buller. It is understood to be a powerful light, visible for a considerably greater distance than the one at present in use. The s.s. Claud Hamilton, Captain Underwood, left Hobson’s Bay at 3 p.m. on the 9th ; passed Port Phillip Heads at 6 and Cape Schanck at 8 p.m. the same day, and Swaii Island at 7 p.m. on the following day. She experienced fine weather during the run across, made the S. W. Cape at 9 p.m. on the 14th, and entered Bluff Harbor at 9.30 on the 16th ; sailed yesterday afternoon ; and arrived in port this momihg at 7 o’clock. She brings 220 tons of cargo for this port.
