MAILS CLOSE— For Valparaiso direct (only letters specially addressed by this vessel), per ship Wm. Lindsay, on Thursday, the 14th inst., at 4.30 p.m. For Oamaru, per p.s. Wallace, on Thursday, the 14th inst., at 5 p.m. N.B.—Friday next (15th inst.) being a public holiday, it is notified that the mails for the county districts, which would usually close at 6 a.m. on that morning, will be made up at 7 p.m. on the previous (Thursday) evening. N.B.—Mails for the United Kingdom and other places, via Suez, will close at this office on or about the 15th. It is necessary that correspondence for transmission by this route be addressed “ via Suez.” Mails for the United Kingdom, America, ha., via San Francisco, will close at this office per s.«, Phoebe, on the 28th inst.?
